X-Treme X-Men #12

X-Treme X-Men #12 has yet another jump to a new location.  At the end of the last issue the good guys were confronting the three evil Xaviers.  Though now they are in an Egyptian world with the Xaviers in control with the good guys sneaking around looking for a victory.  There is a speech and a plan, the team attacks but opens a portal and while the side effect is the death of two of the evil Xaviers it appears they destroyed that world.  We also get a glimpse of the evil destruction on the other side and it looks like Sentinels again.  I was thinking Sentinels make sense in that in the past Sentinels have decided killing everyone is the only way to get rid of mutants some might have decided killing the universe was an even better plan.

X-Treme X-Men #10

X-Treme X-Men #10 – This issue is mostly devoted to the back stories of some of the team, we already got Kurt’s (Nightcraler) backstory.  With this issue we get more backstory for the Scott “Cyclops” summers and his world and American Civil War with mutants.  Then we learn where James Howlett (Wolverine) and Hercules came from and why they knew each other.  Then we meet this worlds Namor and then a Nazi Xavier.  Unfortunately the team is in a confused state not knowing who to fight or trust.  Once again I think this could be very interesting.  As a student of alternative history it will be interesting to see how this all works out and well the team will have to kill Xavier even if he turns out to be a good guy.

Catching up

X-Treme X-men #7 was entertaining, robots disassembled by the dozens.  Not really sure what the point was to all the drama.  It was just an OK issue compared to previous stories in this series.

Issue number two of the All New X-men was an improvement over issue number one.  Much less whining and moaning.  This is the issue where they decide what to do and get to the future!  Still not sold on how this book is playing out versus how it was sold.

And this ends last week’s Marvel Comics.  I'm falling behind again.

I know I probably should not enjoy the comic X-Treme X-men, but it is a really entertaining comic book.  Take a couple of popular and not so popular X-men characters; take their duplicates from other dimensions.  Those duplicates have similar personalities to the mainline characters they seem most like.  Then send them on a quest across dimensions to hunt down 10 evil Professor Xs.  Each comic has them meeting a different group of Marvel Supers from different dimensions – wackiness ensues.  Issue #1 (of 2012) were all the craziness was introduced was fun.  Issue #2 was not so hot.  But numbers three and four have been very entertaining.  We have had gods, monsters and Westerns to entertain.  I am happy with this version of the X-men.
