The Mighty Avengers #11
The Mighty Avengers #11 was an amazing read. I do not know if the Mighty Avengers comic has been this good or this is just the Original Sin storyline making things better. But I just have to say how great a comic is when it is good! The story follows Luke Cage to his father where we learn about the father's history with super heroics in the 1970s. We even get to see Blade in his full on 70s' glory. If you have not read this story go buy it now!

Avengers A.I. #2
Avengers A.I. #2 continues a short while after the end of the
previous issue. The Avengers A.I. team
is trying to figure out the origin of a new android (for lack of a better
category term other than robot) named Alexis.
The Vision as usual is being his logical best, Doombot still thinks it
is Doctor Doom and acting like it, Victor Mancha is uncertain about his place
in the team and Hank Pym is acting cool.
It turns out that the new villain Dimitrios is another A.I. that has
taken over an old fully automated Iron Man armor and is trying to wage war on
humanity. He hijacks a Sentinel to
attack Washington D.C. the attack fails of course, but not before giving
Doombot a couple of fun lines before it loses its head in the fight; though it
appears that the true plan of Dimitrios was actually to gain control of the
Vision or at least access to his communication network making his monolog
available to the entire world to view.
The monologue goes on and on for pages and could have been copied from
any one of Magneto’s rants about mutants replacing humans. But in this case replace mutant with A.I. and
other mechanical / electrical based creatures taking over the world. In other words just a bit of the same old
same old in the Marvel Comics Universe.
But I must say the dialogue was good and the story was interesting. Good stuff.

Young Avengers #7!
Young Avengers #7 was where the writers play catch up to
where they want the story to resume.
There is a lot of text and talking about what happened between the
escape from the mother parasite and the now of the comic. Prodigy finds the Young Avengers and asks for
their help to find Speed. The team makes
a hole in time and space then they head to another dimension. It was all interesting and well written but
felt a bit like filler.

Avengers A.I. #1
Avengers A.I. #1 is a new comic spinning off from the Age of
Ultron mega super cross over comic series of the moment. In this comic Hank Pym uses his genius to
fight against an A.I. he accidentally created when he helped defeat
Ultron. This new fast replicating A.I.
is apparently like Ultron and is out to kill all humans. Being the first issue of a team book most of
the story revolves around bringing the team together. So far I think I like the Doombot (a robot
built by Doctor Doom that is used as a stand in when the writers do not want
Doom captures or blown up dramatically – there are a lot of them) the best at
least it is honest with itself and others on the team. A team consisting of Hank Pym, Monica Chang
(director of S.H.I.E.L.D. A.I.), Victor Mancha (Ultron’s Son IE Ultron built
him), the Vision (Victor’s older brother), and the Doombot could just be a very
entertaining comic. If for no other
reason than Hank Pym is overly enthusiastic and positive about the whole
adventure. Good Stuff!

Uncanny Avengers #8AU (Age of Ultron)
Uncanny Avengers #8AU (Age of Ultron) was a good story; unfortunately it was another Ultron story that happened without Ultron in another timeline that will most likely disappear. The least that could have happened in this story is to have seen at least one Ultron. Upon seeing this cover I was really hoping that Kang would do something interesting. Instead this story appears to just be filler and a training mission for Kang’s adopted children to hunt down and kill someone. But they are sent to kill Colonel America who just happens to be trying to bring Caliban of the Morlocks in to face trial for murder. But Havok, Rogue, Calisto argue with the Colonel until Kang’s kids attack. Lots of Morlocks die, Havok dies, Rogue dies all while there is a philosophical debate about the future of mutant kind. Frankly this story was even more pointless and meaningless than the main Age of Ultron story in this timeline. This is just another tie in for no useful reason as it has nothing to do with the main Ultron storyline or the Uncanny Avengers storyline – the Uncanny Avengers is a comic so bad I have stopped obtaining copies even to review. Bleh.

A + X #5
A + X #5 Iron Fist and DOOP is the first story and it
appears to be a rip-off of an old the Real Ghostbusters story. DOOP sure looks acts and talks like
Slimer. The adventure was silly and
slightly confused by the correct flow of time.
It was not a bad story it was just kind of lacking context beyond trying
to make a generally serious character such as the Iron Fist look and sound
silly. We then get a Loki and Mister
Sinister story which was very good. The
story was well written and paced. Loki
when used as play full chaos is so entertaining and not so much fun when he is
being evil. So getting to see him play
some tricks and pretend to fall victim to Mister Sinister powers and technology
was fun.

All New X-Men #8!!!
All New X-Men #8 was a good issue. I was glad the Angel finally got some face
time and better yet he got to do something with his future self. The fight at Avengers Tower was great and
Hydra needs help as attacking an empty Avengers Tower is just wimpy. There are a number of great lines in this
story including Captain America saying “Why are there two of you?” and even the
Hulk has a quizzical look on his face.
Having Ice Man and Kitty Pride narrating the talk between the current
Beast and Captain America was well done and amusing. But having the original Scott Summers come
out and give his little talk was great, though I am getting a bit worried about
Jean Grey while she is learning all her new / old powers. Overall this was a great issue!

Secret Avengers #1
Secret Avengers #1 was alright with a disappointing
ending. Seriously Hawkeye is getting
spread around more than Spider-Man at this point it is just stupid. Not to mention the Black Widow while popular
does she need to be in another comic?
Then there is the memory editor first Wolverine loses his memory if you
look at him funny. Marvel Comics and its
writers really need to find something besides memory loss to create drama in a
Comic Book. Nick Fury is fine, this is
his job he kills people and does the super spy James Bond thing. But Phil Coulson I thought he was dead? I guess Marvel / Disney realized he was the
more popular character from the Avengers movie.
The actual story was just a bit disjointed apparently because of the
memory editor thing. The start of the
comic was a classic Hawkeye story with Hawkeye in a bad way only to be saved by
another Hero. The bad guy was
interesting and I was amused how he did not believe Hawkeye was telling the
truth. The whole story could have been a
great stand up part for Hawkeye but in the end he was not a hero but just a
pawn of greater planning. This is why in
the end I did not like the comic. I’m
hoping that an Avenger comic would be more than the heroes have no idea what
they are doing because that never ends well.

A + X !!
A+X #4 is still holding to the two stories one book part one
is the Beast and Spider-Man and the second story is Captain America and Quentin
Quire. Planet of the Beasts was very
good I would go so far as to say it a one of the best stories I have read in a
long time. It was funny and the two
smart characters got to sound smart while doing their super thing. I am sure they both appreciated the chance to
not be mocked for having and using their brains. The whole planet of the beasts was apparently
lifted directly from the Planet of the Apes movies. Spider-man got in some good quips; the storm
moved along and ended in a park. Good
Stuff. The second story is alright but
the whole earn each other’s trust is a little old. I do not even know who Quire is or where he
has appeared or where he ends up at the end of the story. The M.O.G.O.D.! were used well for
entertainment and comic relief.

Uncanny Avengers
Uncanny Avengers #3, well that sucked. I’m sure the 10 year old me would have loved
all the long winded whiny bitchy talking.
But seriously the Avengers did this story already back in their original
issue number 2 or three I forget exactly which one and Don’t have access to
that collection at the moment. Seriously
write something good for a change. This
comic has some great stars and guest stars and this is the best that can be
produced? Ick.

Avengers Plus X-men
A+X issue #3 was not nearly as good as previous issues. Part one was the #*#&&#$ Black
Panther and Storm. Apparently they got
married at one time and this was the post-divorce all talking story. The backup story was Hawkeye and Gambit
fighting over a girl, not an original story at all. They had to save an actress from what looked
like a Murloc from World of Warcraft.
The good guys win the end. Since
both characters normally have great dialog (especially Hawkeye in his own book)
but in this story the witty banter was very flat. It just added to the disappointment in this
issue of A+X.

The New Avengers!
The New Avengers #1: I am not really a fan of the Super Hero
Illuminati that has been created by Marvel Comics to just futz up the
continuity of so many stories. I do not
like how suddenly Reed Richards and Doctor Strange would even consider such a
thing, becoming evil. But this book
actually followed the Black Panther into a weird story of aliens and other worlds
and it interest me and I need to find issue #2 to see if things remain
interesting or go stupid.

Avengers!
Avengers #2: Frankly this is story is stupid. I know it is a comic book, but seriously it
is like reading the whiny X-men. I’m
going to stop reading this before I watch a once grand comic book not just
destroyed but disgraced.
AA Avengers Academy Murder World #2; yeah that still stocks
and Walt Disney Company should be so proud of their writers killing
children. Good job.

Catching up...
All-New X-men #3 – So weeks after the “Big Event” none of
these super mutants (including Cyclops or Magneto) noticed that their power had
changed? Yeah at least the new and old
X-men finally meet.
Avengers #1 – A long boring story off Earth. So now I believe Captain America is currently
in another dimension in his main comic, in another different dimension with
several Black Widows and now he is (spoiler) on Mars. It may be time for them to just fight
villains I was not expecting or hoping for grand space opera. The teaser for future episodes says there
will be more weird extra dimensional travel and back stabbing intrigue. I will be dropping this comic.
Thunderbolts #1 was entertaining, but I am not sure I recognize
all the suspects. This issue was a bit
wordy, hopefully the story will move along.
The G.I. Combat featuring the Haunted Tank and Unknown
Soldier #7 was really good. Well the
Haunted Tank portion of the comic was really really good. The first two issues with the Haunted Tank
were silly, but this issue was really good.
No not going to give away the story.
The Unknown Soldier story is not good and I have been un-happy that this
is the character the book spends so much time following. This incarnation lacks the spirit of the
character unlike how well the Haunted Tank turned out.
The comic Legends of the Dark Knight continue to deliver
good stories with issue number three.
This issue tells the story of the people Batman helped. The Batman is having doubts and he is his
normal driven self. But thanks to the
Gotham PD clearing out the files Batman gets letters like his was Santa. Actually my only complaint about this issue
is that the font used to show the text is from a letter is hard to read for my
old eyes. I had to break out the
magnifying glasses to read that part of the story getting old sucks sometimes.

New Comics!
New Comic books! Once
again A+X was great! With issue #2 again
there was two short team-up stories in the style of the classic Marvel
Team-Up. First was a Rogue and Black
Widow story with some interesting action.
The Iron Man and Kitty Pride story was a little more meh – if for no
other reason than the writer seemed to have been told his story could not
actually change anything with the main storylines.
Ugh, Uncanny Avengers is a pathetic whiny childish waste of
print time and money. Issue #2 confirms
that I made the right choice in avoiding the whole A vs. X event. Stupid. I guess that means I am no longer the target age for the X-men comics.
